ThinkFirst New Brunswick

about us

The New Brunswick Chapter is run by Chapter Director, Dr. Brian Wheelock and Coordinator Sheryl Finnegan, R.N. We have partnered with a number of groups in our province, including the R.C.M.P, Leisure Services, Trauma Services, Child Safety Link, and Safe Kids and Safe Communities in the Saint John area. Sheryl also sits on the Safe Kids Committee and ThinkFirst Canada's Board of Directors.

The work of the New Brunswick Chapter would not be possible without the tremendous support of our Aviva volunteers who have been busy at work participating in numerous Chapter initiatives and events.

For more information, please contact Coordinator Sheryl Finnegan at finshe@reg2.health.nb.ca.

what we do

The New Brunswick Chapter is busy with school and community presentations and injury prevention advocacy.

  • Each school year we visit several classrooms, presenting injury prevention information to students in grades one through five.
  • Our booth is on display at the many community events such as the Teddy Bear Fair and the Safe Kids Week Grand Expo
  • We attend many bike rodeos in the spring and summer months where we conduct helmet fitting clinics, do the ever popular egg drop presentation and give away free helmets to those in need!

success stories

2010

  • Attended Safe Kids Safety and Activity Day in June. Trauma Services gave a helmet safety demonstration.
  • Attended multiple Bike Rodeos.
  • Presented ThinkFirst materials and programs to classrooms in New Brunswick.
