Smart Equestrian
From jumping and dressage to reining and polo, safety in equestrian sports is more than just about wearing a helmet... although, that's a good start. Horse riding, people may easily forget, is a very dangerous sport and Smart Equestrian will provide the crucial knowledge required to ride safely and avoid injuries. With appearances from Hall of Fame jockey and professional jockeys, this video will make sure that the next time you are in the saddle, it will not only be fun, but safe as well.
Smart Equestrian is an injury prevention program designed for young riders, coaches, trainers and parents. This program consists of a DVD, education booklet, and safety card, provided in both English and French. With the help of the Smart Equestrian Committee and with special thanks to the generous support of the Krembil Foundation, this program has been created to enhance knowledge about the importance of injury prevention in equestrian activities. It informs riders and others of how and when serious injuries can occur, how to avoid injury through appropriate behaviours including the proper use and maintenance of equipment, how to deal with injuries and how to safely return to sport after being injured.
